Jacobs is seeking a full-time Smart Metering Specialist to join our team in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The purpose of this position is to provide consulting services to our global advanced meter infrastructure (AMI) projects. Each day you will be responsible for client and project management for AMI projects around the globe and will report to the Director for Smart Metering practice. Your role will include being an SME (subject matter expert) on data management and analytics (showing our clients how to leverage the benefits of AMI) as well as supporting the business development and sales efforts of the team necessary to grow our pipeline and portfolio globally. In this highly specialized position, you will work with a small team of technical experts and consulting analysts to deliver a wide range of services within the Smart Metering practice. In addition to your delivery responsibilities, you will be considered one of the practice leaders to provide guidance and mentor members of the practice.

Jacobs provides feasibility and business case evaluation, procurement and evaluation support, implementation management, and digital transformation (leak detection, non-revenue water, hydraulic modeling, etc.) benefits for water utilities around the world. We are typically brought in as an “owner’s agent” and trusted advisor for our utility clients.

You should be a self-motivated professional with 10 years of global smart metering experience, have a bachelor’s degree in an analytical field, and have a desire to travel and grow yourself both personally and professionally. Our Smart Metering Specialists:

  • Serve as technical experts in support of business development, proposal writing, and client interviews.

  • Participate and collaborate in client and project development activities while working on multi-disciplinary consulting teams.

  • Utilize high-level organizational, business process, financial, and technical analyses to develop solutions for specific client needs.

  • Provide technical input and participate in the delivery of feasibility analysis, procurement, and implementation programs.

  • Significantly contribute to the firm’s reputation through such accomplishments as published articles and presentations at conference of regional, national, and global significance.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 10 years of smart metering experience in industry or prior consulting work

  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to travel at least 50% of the time

  • Organized, able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and able to work under deadline pressure

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Certified PMP

  • IT integration and/or billing systems experience

  • Former water utility experience implementing and/or testing AMI

  • Data analytics, hydraulic modeling, non-revenue water experience

  • Prior sales experience in the utility sector
