At the US Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) within Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Jacobs Technology employees, along with our teammate companies Caelum, SOI, eLe, and Trident ensure the weapons, vehicles, and equipment that the war fighter depends on are safe, effective and reliable.
Operates various items of engineering and automotive equipment in the construction and maintenance of ranges, moving and/or transporting heavy, bulky and oversized material and equipment. Transports and dispenses fuel as required. Operates engineering equipment such as bulldozers (D-7’s, D-8’s, or their equivalent), front-end loaders, backhoes, motor graders to clear and grade areas, remove earth, slope banks, dig ditches and level road beds in support of ATC test programs. Uses equipment attachments such as winches, grading blades, and trail blazing blades. Performs operator preventive maintenance on assigned equipment. Operates motor vehicles with responsibility for proper loading, unloading, and performs preventive maintenance. Operates 15-ton truck tractors with 5 to 60 ton semi-trailers to transport heavy, bulky and oversized materials and equipment such as armor plate, track laying vehicles, and aircraft fuselages to on-post locations and off-post locations such as Churchville, Edgewood, throughout the United States and Canada. Operates heavy-duty trucks (4 ton and over) to transport materials and equipment to various areas within the installation. Delivers test items across United States and Canada and may be TDY for extended times. Operates 10-ton tractor with 20-ton tank trailer, which carries up to 5,000 gallons of gasoline and/or diesel fuel to make scheduled daily and weekly deliveries to on-post locations and off-post locations such as Edgewood and Churchville. Dispenses proper amount of fuel from truck to storage tanks in accordance with correct operating procedures. Operates aerial platforms to lift, move, emplacement of guns, armor plate, portable bomb proofs. Operates heavy equipment such as clamshells, power shovels, motor graders, heavy loaders, carryalls, bulldozers, rollers, scrapers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scrapper attachments. Equipment is used to excavate, load or move dirt, gravel or other materials. Operator may read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans. May grease, adjust and make emergency repairs to equipment. Escorts and guards vehicles being transported throughout the US and Canada. Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material. Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved. Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes and chains, to crane hook. Gives directions to Bridge-or-Gantry-Crane-or–Mobile-Crane Operator or Hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to insure safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, radio, or telephone. Set up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches. May direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment onto ships.
Must possess a Class A CDL with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements.

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION
Ability to operate, grease, make adjustments and emergency repairs to heavy equipment. Operates various items of engineering and automotive equipment in construction and maintenance of ranges, move and/or transport heavy, bulky and oversized material and equipment. Transports and dispenses fuel as required. The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 25%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 25%).
DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT
The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold extreme temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 25%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts.

CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE
Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice.
OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. Must possess a valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT and Tanker endorsements. May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. May be subject to exposure to noise, vibration, oil, lubricants, fuels such as gasoline and diesel, dusts, ammo, and solvents. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
