At the US Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) within Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Jacobs Technology employees, along with our teammate companies Caelum, SOI, eLe, and Trident, ensure the weapons, vehicles, and equipment that the war fighter depends on are safe, effective and reliable.

Job Description:

Assists with and performs routine technical work with limited supervision. The work requires the ability to learn and apply established methods, detailed procedures, and techniques related to Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) testing. Performs E3 test setup/teardown, operates test equipment, and records test data; performs non-standardized assignments under guidance of working leader or higher-level technical personnel. Technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed upon completion; non-routine work will be reviewed in-progress. In accordance with established methods, analyzes and presents various test data, which are reviewed by higher-level personnel. Services or repairs simple instruments or equipment. Adjusts and operates equipment, pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors. Troubleshoots and repairs equipment associated with testing to include utilizing diagnostic equipment, soldering, and wiring. Provides assistance to higher-level technicians/engineering personnel engaged in conducting test and evaluation of electronic systems under test. Installs and operates C4ISR equipment that pertains to E3 testing.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

3 yrs. of applicable experience; or at least 60 credit hours or an Associate’s Degree and 1 yr. of applicable experience; or 30 credit hours and 2 yrs. of applicable experience; or completion of a formal training program and 1 yr. of applicable experience.

Essential Functions Form:

UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION

May require sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time (up to 80%). The ability to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulder level and climb into or under a vehicle is required (up to 50%). Walking a minimum of 50 yards over rough terrain is required (up to 25%). The ability to push and pull as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required (up to 20%).

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work environment may be inside or outside depending on the task. The ability to work in outside field conditions that include hot and cold extreme temperatures and other outdoor climatic conditions is required (up to 25%). Must be able to work in areas where only portable restroom facilities are available (up to 25%). Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts.

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES INVOLVED IN WORK TASKS

Conducts test and evaluations using ballistics, general equipment, high speed thermocouple data acquisition, and/or toxic fumes measurement. Uses a variety of standard references, guides, and precedents to obtain needed information. Work may require being around moving machinery and equipment. Work may require driving auto equipment, forklifts as well as other equipment.

CRITICALITY OF ATTENDANCE

Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours. Work outside of normal duty hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice. Travel to various locations for various lengths of time may be required (up to 5%).

OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to obtain an interim secret security clearance in order to gain access to required areas, networks and systems within thirty (30) days of date of your offer letter. Must further be able to obtain and retain a secret security clearance. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Must be able to obtain and retain unescorted access to work areas. May be subject to hearing tests, laser eye exam, and complete blood count. May be subject to other physicals or exams if required to wear a respirator or are designated by the COR to have other physicals due to the work area in which you are assigned. If working with depleted uranium, an Urinebioassay and Invivo lung scan may also be required. May be subject to exposure to noise, vibration, temperature extremes, lead, radiation, petroleum, oil, lubricants, dusts, and solvents. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Must have a valid driver’s license and personal transportation for the purpose of moving around the proving ground to accomplish job functions and in order to operate a rental vehicle if and when travel is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver’s license within 30 days of employment.
