Assigned to a strategic Jacobs client account or portfolio of accounts, Account Strategists collaborate with Client Account Managers (CAM) and Client Service Leaders (CSLs) to provide account stewardship and develop and drive sales strategy. This role can be located anywhere in the Midwest.
Account Strategists are responsible for market and industry research and analysis, communication within account teams, and planning at both the account and pursuit level. They drive account-focused, winning strategies for effective proposal development and execution, while providing leadership and on-the-job mentorship to emerging sales team members.
Account Strategists are knowledgeable of the dynamics within their assigned client’s environment, driving factors within their business, and how Jacobs can serve the client’s needs. Account Strategists need to exercise curiosity, looking at the 360-degree view of an account and be a challenger or healthy skeptic to identify risks and recognize opportunities that influence the strategy. They create a culture of teamwork within account teams, reinforce Jacobs Relationship Based Sales (RBS) philosophy, and apply best practices to strengthen our client relationships and increase our probability of winning.
Account Strategists serve a critical role in driving positioning activities to include developing and refining Jacobs’ strategies, win themes, and differentiators. The Account Strategist will partner with a proposal lead during positioning and will stay engaged throughout proposal development in an oversight and reviewer role to ensure the pursuit strategy is executed. For strategic pursuits within the account portfolio, an Account Strategist may take a lead role throughout the proposal development process, but it is understood that Account Strategist primarily are focused on positioning efforts.

Strong background in relationship-based sales, winning strategy, and proposal development for competitive opportunities
Ability to work with diverse sales and operations teams to understand client needs, challenges, and drivers; the competitive landscape; partner needs and opportunities; outside influences; and our key differentiators
Is an exceptional facilitator, communicator, critical thinker, and writer; recognizes the importance of diverse teams and excels in leading them; approaches problem-solving with the intent to find mutually beneficial solutions
Business development experience in the engineering and/or professional services and consulting industry
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment; great team player, collaborative mind set with interpersonal skills aligned with our company values
Ability to develop, nurture, and maintain relationships at all levels of the company
Business acumen to help differentiate when and how to prioritize strategic decisions based on financial goals

Strong capabilities in customer relationship systems, Microsoft Office Suite
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including interview skills
Ability to travel (when the time is right)
Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field relevant to the Jacobs business, business, marketing, communications/rhetoric, journalism, English, or related field
At least 10 years of relevant experience within the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry
Experience working with public sector clients
Relationships with clients and/or teaming partners in aligned Accounts
Proficiency in using Salesforce for account planning and opportunity management
Active external/industry engagement
