When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re focused on cleaning up our communities today to improve tomorrow. We are looking for a Civil/Environmental Engineer in the field of waste management with a willingness to work on a variety of waste management projects including permitting, planning, design, and construction services for solid waste handling facilities including transfer stations, recycling facilities, moderate risk waste facilities, landfill cells, closure systems, landfill gas and leachate control systems, coal combustion residuals, and environmental site remediation. As one of the leading environmental consulting firms, we draw upon a global network of skills and resources to deliver some of the largest and most innovative projects.

You will use your knowledge to apply the appropriate tools and systems to organize and deliver projects. Solid waste design and management continues to be a strong area of sustained project work and is also a growing market for Jacobs.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• Work independently and as members of diverse teams to support engineers and scientists delivering designs, studies, and field assignments

• Prepare 3D models to analyze existing and proposed conditions and inform development of designs

• Write technical reports

• Develop drawings and specifications for design projects; coordinate changes to drawings and specifications with project team members; develop cost estimates and conduct quantity takeoffs for design projects

• Conduct field work, occasionally at hazardous waste locations

• Serve as a Jacobs representative on construction sites; facilitate communication between construction and office staff; write detailed field reports

Qualifications - External

• BS or MS degree in Civil or Environmental engineering

• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

• Ability to obtain a PE certification in the next 2 years

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Previous experience with a consulting firm serving solid waste clients

• Familiarity with 3D surface modeling software

• 40-hr HAZWOPER certification

• Adept at interpersonal relationship building, conflict resolution, and participating in diverse teams

• Strong technical writing skills

• Motivated, positive attitude, dependable, and reliable to meet assigned project deadlines

• Desire to work on field projects for short or long periods of time
