VEV VISE Lab Technician Position Summary:
The Vehicle Electrical and Verification (VEV) Team is seeking a Lab Technician to join their team. Seeking a self-motivated individual with passion to deliver results, drive to improve the current processes, and help develop new best practices. This individual will be able to operate with exceptional integrity to help deliver Global Product Development System (GPDS) gateway/milestones on time to established acceptance criteria. Be able to exercise common practice means and tools to maintain operational states of breadboards by providing electrical support and troubleshooting, identifying routing issues and missing connections, and confirming repairs are completed or not completed.
Fabricate breadboards and build for ready-to-test
Work with the installation and assembly of electrical instrumentation, modules, sensors, power supplies, load boxes, inverters etc.
Design and build test fixtures, harnesses and test boxes to address testing needs
Troubleshoot electrical systems and verify functionality per specifications/drawings
Obtain schematics from TPV-MULE Surrogate programs
Markup production intent schematics to integrate with TPV-MULE Surrogates
Assist with breadboard parts management and identify missing components while leading procurement activity to resolution
Test the TPV-MULE Engineering Breadboards to verify design intentions are fulfilled, and develop any bridging of electronics or reworks
Draft general “how-to” for other installers build and commissioning breadboards
Configure, flash, and troubleshoot ECU’s as directed
Maintain breadboard to product (vehicle) pedigree with routine PDL and SWAD reviews
Attend all meetings, reviews, and build assessments as needed to represent VISE Lab/Electrical agendas
Here’s What You’ll Need:
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND /OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Required Position Qualifications & Critical Skills:
Associates Degree in Related Field
Two (2) years or more of relevant experience in electrical work
Hands-on automotive work, repair, and fabrication
Strong knowledge of automotive parts, systems, subsystems, and features
EDS (Wiring) experience, includes wiring repair, excellent soldering skills
Ability to interpret wiring schematics and 2D prints
Capable of customizing and fabricating wiring, cables, connectors, brackets, etc.
Basic understanding of vehicle CAN and related tools
Background in instrumentation and test data collection set-ups
Strong background in computers and Microsoft Office programs
Use oscilloscopes/meters/logic analyzers to diagnose/troubleshoot electrical issues
Self-starter, proactive and energetic, a problem solver
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
People person/team player
Good attention to detail
Organized with respectable housekeeping skills
Adaptable, Flexible, and Versatile
Strong Safety Mindset
Preferred Position Qualifications & Critical Skills:
Ford Service Experience/Ford ASSET Program/Ford STARS Training/PTS/IDS
Proficiency with Rotunda VCM, VDR, VMM, VCMM, and other Motorcraft tools
Systems Integration knowledge
Utilizing CAN Tools for troubleshooting and flashing/configuring software
EDS (wiring) Design – ability to read/understand prints and relationship to schematics and device transmittals
Qualified candidates will work well under pressure, demonstrate excellent problem solving and creativity, and be able to quickly evaluate new information and make appropriate decisions
Ability to work independently and with other test technicians, skilled trades, and suppliers to resolve issues
Ability to work in a diverse environment with mechanics, engineers, technicians, technologists, and suppliers
Capable of using related Ford systems – currently Advanced Vehicle Bill of Material (AVBOM), ELMS, Corporate Procurement and Receiving System (CPARS), eFDVS/FEDE, Global Prototype Inventory Requisitioning and Scheduling (GIPRS), Global Integrator, SPROUT, Teamcenter, Worldwide Engineering Release System (WERS), and GPDS program timing
Strong background in computers, Microsoft Office programs
CAD, VIZO, MATLAB, Solid Works

Criticality of Attendance
Overtime, regular days, off days: Monday through Friday 7:00AM to 4:00 PM but must be able to support our flexible test schedule into other shifts and/or weekends
Shift, 1st, 2nd, 3rd: Day shift
Necessity for regular attendance: Critical
Urgency for punctuality: Critical
Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary. Must have flexibility of work afternoons to cover weekend testing requirements.
Other Essential Functions
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, health performance evaluation, PHMV exam and background check.
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.
Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to self or others.
Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
Dependable personal transportation to work site is required.
