BRIEF OUTLINE OF SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Jacobs Technology is the advanced technology division of Jacobs Engineering, one of the nation's largest engineering and technical services-only companies . Jacobs is the world’s top supplier of automotive test facilities, providing a full range of services to commercial automotive industry customers. Customers include not only the world’s major vehicle providers and other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), but also clients from the international motorsports community

The Fastener Test Engineer works with fastener test technicians to deliver fastener test reports, including managing incoming test requests, working with technicians to resolve testing issues and writing/maintaining test methods. The emphasis is on teamwork with Ford Engineering, Manufacturing, fastener test technicians and program engineers, and with fastener and finish suppliers.

Position Duties

Provide fastener and joint testing support including, but not limited to:

  • Participate in test check-in as necessary to ensure a successful test

  • Assist check-in technician in managing parts for testing

  • Approve new test requests and manage in-process testing

  • Consult with test technicians on test setup, data acquisition and data analysis

  • Review test reports prior to publication

  • Subject matter expert for test methods – develop/write new test methods and revise current methods as necessary

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

  • Knowledge of automotive fasteners, joint design and power tool technology

  • Experience in an automotive test environment, including testing methodologies and data analysis

  • Experience with automotive systems, components and assembly methods

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Self–motivated, team-oriented and ability to work with others

  • Shift, 1st, 2nd, 3rd: Day shift (7:00-3:30). Shift assignment is subject to change, so candidates must be flexible with available work hours

  • Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.

Other Essential Functions

  • Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, health performance evaluation, and background check.

  • Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.

  • Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
