The Fastener Lab Test Technician is an entry level position, giving those who want to work in the vehicle testing field the opportunity to learn and grow with an industry leader.

Position Description

The Fastener Test Technician conducts testing of fastened joints to determine assembly torque specifications, validate engineering designs and assist in the resolution of assembly plant issues. The emphasis is on teamwork with Ford Engineering, Manufacturing, fastener test technicians and program engineers, and with fastener and finish suppliers.

Position Duties

Provide fastener and joint testing support including, but not limited to:

  • Manage parts and test requests coming into the test lab

  • Basic preparation of test coupons and parts prior to testing

  • Conduct fastener testing, for example torque to failure and joint relaxation

  • Prepare and transmit test reports to test requestors

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Position Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology or associated field, or three years relevant work experience, required

  • Experience with automotive systems, components and assembly methods

  • Experience with automotive fasteners, joint design and power tool technology

  • Experience in conducting tests and analyzing data

  • Experience in basic fabrication techniques (machining, welding, etc.) is a plus

  • Good general computer skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Excel and Word

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Self–motivated, team oriented and ability to work with others

  • Shift, 1st, 2nd, 3rd: Day shift (7:00-3:30). Shift assignment is subject to change, so candidates must be flexible with available work hours

  • Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday-Friday. Regular attendance of scheduled hours is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.

  • Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with customers, management and co-workers.

  • Must have clear, concise and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
