PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Plans, organizes and directs the operations resources and efforts to ensure that construction for projects is safe, operable and is prepared:

  • in accordance with the requirements of the contract.

  • at optimum cost to Jacobs België.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Ensures that a trained, motivated, technical and quality/cost/HSE conscious division staff is developed and maintained.

  • Liaises with division heads to ensure that satisfactory progress is being made on all projects to achieve maximum profitability.

  • Ensures that the operations are in accordance with the general Jacobs België policies and organization procedures, as well as with the HSE policy of JB.

  • Work with business development on proposals to build back log

  • Supports development and implementation of the quality plan, all within the framework of JB’s strategies, policies, budgets and procedures.

  • Reviews with the division heads:

  • Budgets for overhead and internal projects.

  • Training requirements and career planning (horizontal and vertical) to achieve short and long term objectives.

  • Salary increases and promotions.

  • Matters pertaining organization and quality.

  • Is member of the company management team (staff).

  • Attends the management proposal review meetings.

  • Attends top-level meetings with client as a project sponsor.

  • Attends management review and progress meetings on quality assurance.

  • Attends meetings of the quality management steering committee.

  • Is involved in laying down Jacobs België’s house rules.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Is responsible for:

  • People, activities and performance of construction.

  • The ultimate approval, together with the Engineering Manager and the Project Control and Services Manager, of Jacobs België organization procedures.

AUTHORITY

Has the authority to:

  • Suggest salary increases and promotions for construction personnel.

  • Take decisions, if required in agreement with the Division Managers, on all project, engineering and construction matters.

COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION

To perform the principal duties, the most frequently required contacts are with:

  • Managing Director

  • Engineering Manager

  • Project Control and Services Manager

  • Other members of the company management team (staff)

  • Quality Assurance Manager

  • Clients

Qualifications

  • University engineer (Ir.), with intensive training in management techniques, supported by post-graduate courses.

  • VCA (Veiligheid van Operationeel Leidinggevenden)

  • Languages : Dutch, English, French.

  • 10 years of experience in engineering & contracting with a proven ability to manage groups of different disciplines and to maintain a good relationship with clients of a different nature.

  • Broad experience with project execution for various types of contracts.

  • Proven social and communicative skills.

  • Professional knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of management techniques.

  • Sound technical knowledge.

  • Broad knowledge of all professional fields within Jacobs België.

  • Broad knowledge of human relations and behavior and other aspects of personnel management.
