In the Federal Solutions Building & Infrastructure group, we are comprised of architects, planners, engineers, as well as endless specialty services to support our clients and projects.

We’re seeking an Architectural Specification Writer to be based in Arlington, VA. Reporting to the Specifications Director, selected individual will provide fully integrated technical support to architecture and engineering teams during the design through construction document phases on public projects.

  • Review architectural drawings to identify scope and content for specifications.

  • Assist design teams in selection of materials, products, finishes and installation methods commensurate with the needs of the project.

  • Write and edit the entire architectural technical specifications using office masters, commercial specifications, and create specification sections using Microsoft Word and Specslntact.

  • Coordinate contents of the Project Manual. Access the requirements for a project and work with the Project Manager to determine scope of work.

  • Perform quality control review of drawings and specifications to provide feedback to project teams.

  • Coordinate specifications with drawings; coordinate all Division sections throughout all disciplines.

  • Be a resource professional to the project teams.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • BS in Architecture or Engineering

  • State Registration

  • U.S. Citizenship

  • At least 10 years of diversified project experience required, with at least 6 years writing specifications for an A/E firm

  • Must be a multi-tasker who has strong organizational and word processing skills, reliable, dedicated to accuracy and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • CDT Certification

  • CCS Certification

  • TS/SCI or the ability to obtain

  • Experience in writing Division 01 Sections and Construction Administration experience

  • Experience in writing Hardware Specifications including setting up hardware sets with all associated Manufacturer items.
