The Department of Defense has implemented the Skillbridge Intern program to provide Veterans with opportunities to gain "civilian experience" before they actually end their military career. The Industry Intern will develop an understanding of how firms operating in the Built Environment, conceive and develop solutions and technologies to solve client problems. Specifically, each candidate will develop their acumen in the areas of infrastructure and installation development planning, project development, design execution, and construction of built environment solutions.
There are many opportunities in the Washington, DC area, however, other Internship locations are available. Areas of discipline based focus will include: applications of industry best practices in the areas of project and program management, installation and facility sustainment and maintenance planning and execution; the application of engineering economics to develop cost effective long term solutions; non-proprietary and general management tools and best practices used by industry to manage their business operations; approaches to develop innovative solutions, energy management and resiliency solutions, specialized applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for built environment requirements and cyber security applications for federal and commercial entities. Specialized experience in the discipline(s) of their choice.
