At Jacobs our Mechanical HVAC Controls Engineers utilize a range of skills as part of an integrated building services design. The mechanical team at Jacobs is tasked with the most interesting and complicated design challenges to help the Federal Government and Global Market Sector Clients fulfill their mission.

We’re seeking a Mechanical HVAC Controls Engineer to join our team. You’ll have the opportunity to use your vast experience in the industry and apply it to solving today’s challenges.

This role may be performed from any of our U.S. office locations.

You will provide a range of skills as part of an integrated building services design. The engineer will be responsible for providing control system design, engineering, and other related design services including coordination with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering / internal and external), under the guidance of more senior technical staff. The Engineer will take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you. Individuals in this position must demonstrate the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team.

You will be asked to perform all aspects of control system design and engineering, including the preparation of construction documents, schematic control diagrams, network riser diagrams, and specifications for control systems for commercial and government buildings. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Perform site surveys of existing control systems and coordinate the design requirements with building operators and engineers.

  • Review shop drawings and product submittals for control systems.

  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, work is reviewed for adequacy on completion.

  • May provide technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel.

  • Maintain effective communication with project team members as well as the customer.

The base salary range for this position is $92,000 to $161,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline

  • At least 4 years of experience in control system design and engineering, specifically HVAC Controls and Building Automation System/Building Management Systems

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit

  • United States Citizenship

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance is required

Ideally, you’ll also have: 

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Knowledge of IT network/telecommunications and/or PLC/SCADA

  • Experience with cybersecurity
