Jacobs is seeking a Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) Specialist to support our customer in the Arlington, VA area. This position requires an Active TS security clearance. Responsibilities may include the following:
Protected SATCOM Planner supporting customer with terminal image generation
Serve as subject matter expertise (SME) regarding operational and technical aspects of the EHF/ AEHF, and UHF MILSATCOM systems and associated baseband
Create, analyze and process Satellite Access Request (SAR) and Gateway Access Requests (GAR)
Provide maintenance sustainment support and troubleshooting satellite ground mobile and manpack terminals and baseband, create Request for Maintenance Assistance (RMA)
Participate as consultant, advisor, or member in various communication planning and working groups
Analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions to future communications and automation operational challenges
Use knowledge of satellite communications systems and their relationships to other telecommunications networks
Provide technical and operational planning, system configuration and operational mission support
Ensure that developmental tactical automation systems are interoperable with and integrated into tactical communications equipment and are designed to meet user requirements
Work at senior level to define, integrate, and implement strategic direction for satellite programs having long-term effects
Develop and present briefings to convey strategic vision of organizational policies
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Typically requires an Associate degree in a computer field and eight (8) years of related experience. Progressive and relevant education, training and/or certification(s) may be substituted for a portion of the degree and experience requirements.
6+ years of Department of Defense (DoD) SATCOM experience
Active TS security clearance
Significant military familiarity and training in MILSATCOM with the ability to demonstrate proficiency in satellite communications principles, technical analysis, and problem solving
Active TS/SCI security clearance
Experience with the Protected SATCOM planning tools, specifically the Mission Planning Subsystem (MPSS) in support of strategic protected satellite terminals
A subject matter expert (SME) for Protected Satellite Communications
Experience with Protected SATCOM terminal operations to include service planning image generation
Previous work experience supporting Protected SATCOM operational units such as USAF 4th Space Operations Squadron (4SOPS)
Knowledge of U.S. Strategic Protected SATCOM communications
10+ years of Department of Defense (DoD) Satellite Communications experience
Physical Requirements: Most work will be done at a desk or computer.
Work Environment: General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.
Equipment & Machines: General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Attendance: Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
Other Essential Functions: Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization both verbally and in writing. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Must be willing to travel as needed. Must take and pass a drug test and background check as well as a motor vehicle records check. Must be a US citizen.
