Jacobs is seeking aSr. Privacy Specialistin Arlington, VA.

Duties will include:

  • Be able to lead projects as necessary, and provide guidance to team members;

  • Research and identify relevant data privacy and information security practices associated with complex business processes; assist with creation of corrective recommendations and actions;

  • Assist in the development of multiple assessment reports;

  • Review and edit draft correspondence and memoranda;

  • Support the development and completion of Privacy Threshold Analyses (PTAs) and Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs);

  • Assist with the creation, update, and editing of privacy-related directives, policies and guidance;

  • Assist with incident response and mitigation strategies as necessary;

  • Maintain productive professional relationship with the client’s IT security and privacy staff, business process owners, and other divisional staff.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail

  • Be a team player, and have a desire to learn more about information privacy and security


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, IT Security, Network Systems Technology or related field or 4 years’ experience in lieu of degree plus five (5) to seven (7) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications.

  • Minimum 6-8 years of general experience in reviewing, auditing, and risk-based assessment of systems and business processes for privacy and/or information security related issues;

  • Minimum 4-6 years of specialized experience working in Privacy;

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the application of computer technology, requirements definition, systems analysis, computer programming, testing, or quality assurance activities;

  • Certificates such as the IAPP CIPP or CIPP/G may be considered equivalent to two (2) years of general experience and two (2) years of privacy experience.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Visio, and MS Project;

  • Exposure to or knowledge of the Privacy Act of 1974, E-Government Act of 2002 privacy provisions, OMB Circular A-130, and other privacy-related OMB memoranda;

  • Experience in or demonstrable interest in data privacy issues in federal government environment;

Desired Qualifications

  • CIPP/G, CIPT or CIPM (strongly desired);

  • CISA, CIA, or CISSP (a plus).Essential Functions:

Most work will be done at a desk or computer.

Work Environment:

General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Equipment & Machines:

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
