At Jacobs, our structural engineers design new buildings as well as retrofit and strengthen existing structures. We are often involved in unique and challenging projects, and perform investigations to make recommendations for various purposes.
Selected individual will be responsible for design of structural systems and components for a variety of government, commercial, and industrial facility types; ensuring the designs conform to building codes and standards, as well as client specific requirements.
As a licensed engineer with approximately 5 to 15 years of experience, duties include developing construction documents (calculations, drawings and specifications); drafting and BIM modeling; and cross-discipline coordination.
Seeking masters level graduate with a strong understanding of statics, mechanical of materials, and load analysis based on building code criteria. We perform hand calculations in conjunction with various structural software programs including SAP, ETABS, STAAD, and RAM.
Interact with project teams and management towards producing high quality documents within budget and on schedule.
A strong communicator across disciplines and management teams, while maintaining professional presence in representing Jacobs in client meetings. We encourage engineering staff to attend client meetings and site visits as opportunities arise.
We often provide written and oral briefings to clients. The ability to speak and write clearly is critical.
Adhere to Jacobs’ safety programs and provide safety leadership.
Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with emphasis on building structures, from an accredited university.
Licensed Professional Engineer.
Ability to develop design documents, including drawings, calculations, and specifications for building structures.
United States citizenship.
Ability to obtain United States Department of Defense security clearance.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Exposure to AutoCAD and Revit.
Exposure to various structural software programs such as SAP, ETABS, STAAD, and RAM.
