Parks and Recreation Coordinator

Description

Plans, supervises and coordinates leisure activities and operations of the Leisure Recreation Program within the Recreation and Parks Department. Reports to the Deputy Director through the Athletics Director. This is a full time 40-hr. /week position.

  • Manages multiple programs involving leisure programs, and special activities

  • Assists in assigning facilities, staff and resources to leisure recreation programs

  • Recommends policy and procedures to the Athletics Director

  • Coordinates volunteer requests from the community and recruits, trains and supervises temporary seasonal and volunteer staff

  • Conducts informational meetings with staff and volunteers concerning policies, procedures, rules and regulations related to their specific assigned activities.

  • Assists in developing, justifying, implementing and monitoring budget expenditures

  • Assists in producing monthly reports on leisure recreation programs to ensure goals are met

  • Oversees the marketing of leisure recreation programs and activities

  • Assists in administrating joint use agreements with school districts, affiliation agreements with other organizations and collaborations with local and state organizations

  • Assists in the preparation of federal and state grants and seeks sponsorships, gifts and donations

  • Responds to requests from and inquiries from the general public

Qualifications

  • 4-6 yrs. in recreation management, bachelors degree in related field preferred; certification in parks and recreation preferred

  • Works under minimal supervision, utilizing experience and judgment to apply concepts, standards and procedures within the field.

  • Plans and accomplishes goals with latitude and creativity and is reviewed upon the results.

  • Manages programs and activities including the seasonal, part-time employees involved.
