The Jacobs-led team will serve as MARTA's CPMO Supplemental Services Consultant and manage the construction aspects. A joint venture between Jacobs and H. J. Russell & Company was selected to support the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) as it embarks on its expansion program. This position will be hired through the Joint Venture Subconsultant Program versus Jacobs. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.

Summary of position:

As the System Safety Certification Manager, you will indirectly manage System Safety Certification professionals in the application of system safety principles to all aspects of the Authority's operations in the development, implementation, and management of the Authority's System Safety and Hazard Management Program by U.S. Federal Transit Administration and Georgia Department of Transportation regulations, standards and

guidance. You develop and enhance processes and procedures in this role and create compliance metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

You will oversee the identification, investigation, and cause of hazardous conditions and safety hazards and develop or approve corrective action plans. You will implement a hazard management program through hazard identification, risk assessment, hazard mitigation, and hazard tracking/ reporting and work closely with other engineers to increase safety, quality, and efficiency.

  • Applies system safety principles to all aspects of the Authority's operations in thedevelopment, implementation, and management of the Authority's System Safety andHazard Management Program in accordance with U. S. Federal Transit Administrationand Georgia Department of Transportation regulations, standards, and guidance.

  • Oversees the performance of safety and security certification in conjunction withplanning, designing, procurement, construction, installation, operation, maintenance anddecommissioning of transit operating systems and facilities.

  • Performs work associated with safety and security certification to include establishingsafety and security design criteria and verification of design and specificationconformance.

  • Responsible for performing and communicating the results of several system safetyanalysis relevant to project phase and complexity, such as Hazard Analysis, Fault TreeAnalysis, and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline is required

  • Must have certification in transit safety and Security. Must complete MARTA's Wayside Access training. Must have a valid Georgia driver's license.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • 12 to 15 years of progressively responsible experience in system safety and/or conducting safety-related dependability studies are required.

  • Must have a detailed understanding of the principles of system safety engineering with the ability to perform complex engineering and statistical analysis and lead a team.
