Based in Austin or San Antonio, TX office you will have the chance to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure projects and utilize your transportation design expertise in roadway to serve as a task lead on transportation related projects. You'll interpret internal or external business issues and recommend best practices. You'll solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify different solutions; guide other in solving complex issues in specialized areas based on existing solutions and procedures. You'll work with the best engineers and project managers in the business, as well as gain experience working directly with our clients. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform as a Project Engineer on roadway schematic, planning, and PS&E projects with the state, county, and city clients

  • Resolve a variety of complex problems, (i.e. conflicting design requirements, determining and meeting design criteria, difficult coordination requirements)

  • Mentor and develop performance reviews for direct reports and mentor technical personnel assigned to a project

  • Works with capture team to develop proposals, review proposals, and participate in interviews for contract pursuits

  • Perform other duties assigned by a Project Manager, Group Lead, or Section Lead

  • Review plans, specifications, contract documents, contract schedules, CPM schedules, technical reports, and estimates

  • Develop and continue to build client relationships

  • Be responsible for the quality of engineering work performed, utilization of staff, and reputation of the office for roadway projects.

  • Travel as required for in-person client meetings

  • Strong organization and communication skills

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Texas

  • Extensive and demonstrable highway design experience

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate all phases of a project

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • TxDOT project experience (other DOT is acceptable)

  • TxDOT pre-certification

  • Experience in roadway and traffic control plan design

  • Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer
