The Austin office of Jacobs is looking for a self-motivated Registered Professional Land Surveyor. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Survey related services for various types of projects, on time, within budget and to agreed specifications. The candidate will function as a team lead for Survey related projects including acting as the liaison to internal departments as needed.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Duties would include field data collection, office calculations and data processing.
Duties will include managing and directing Field Crews and Surveying Technicians in the collection and calculation of data.
Provide effective, skilled project management to help reduce the costs of delivering projects and adding value to the business by applying proven project management techniques.
Manage and supervise various of types of surveying related projects and tasks including, but not limited to: Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Platting, ALTA\ACSM Land Title Surveys, Horizontal and Vertical Control Networks, Construction Staking, Legal Descriptions, and various mapping exhibits.
Acts independently to lead a team to accomplish project commitments and timing for both internal and external clients. Plans, directs and supervises various aspects of surveying to include planning field work, overseeing and reviewing office work and other related activities. Review, verify and approve survey computations for technical accuracy and quality control.
Assesses project requirements, while developing and recommending a sound approach or application to meet the needs of the project and client. Ensures that project deliverables satisfy project requirements. Prepares and/or reviews proposals, budgets and invoices.
Manages and enhances project quality by providing ideas and suggestions to the team aimed at improving the effectiveness of their role, and of the project activities in general.
Mentors team members in project management methods, procedures and activities related to surveying services.
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
At least 10 years of field/office experience is required
Minimum of 5 years as a Survey Project Manager is required
Must have Transportation/TxDOT experience is required
Must be a Texas registered RPLS is required
Must be TxDOT certified or able to obtain certification within one (1) year
Must have extensive knowledge with Trimble GPS field equipment and Trimble office software
The more successful candidate will be proficient user of Autodesk Civil 3d, Carlson Survey, MicroStation and GeoPak, and Microsoft Office products.
