When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re focused on cleaning up our communities today to improve tomorrow. We’re looking for a Groundwater Treatment Plant Operator. As an Operator, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based on Bainbridge Island, you’ll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a groundwater treatment plant including operation of systems (both onsite and remotely), collection of environmental data, and quality control testing. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to complex challenges that may arise in the facility. You’ll control flow through the system, oversee separation of oil from water, observe variations in operating conditions, and interpret meter and gauge readings. You’ll also collect samples, maintain shift logs, and perform other duties as required. You will receive training on the specifics of this plant with the expectation of becoming a lead operator. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.

Typical salary range for this position is paid at an hourly rate $27.75 to $36.42. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training that is relative to the position.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Experience in operating water/wastewater treatment plants.

  • Basic understanding of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to enter data into a maintenance management system.

  • Located on or willing to relocate to the Kitsap peninsula.

  • A valid driver’s license with no major infractions.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • A current, or working towards obtaining, an intermediate level water/wastewater treatment certification.

  • Basic familiarity of the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations, valves, pumps, and motors. * Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Training.

  • Current Confined Space Entry Training Safe work practices.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory, including wearing a full face respirator at times, in these areas to prevent hazardous contact. Due to the nature of the job passing a Fitness for Duty testing is required to ensure candidates for this position are physically and functionally fit to perform the essential physical work functions of this safety sensitive position without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others.
