About the opportunity

Jacobs are offering an incredible opportunity to work in a very rewarding and exciting framework. The design work for the next generation of Royal Navy submarines is underway following the award of two contracts to UK industry worth £85 million each. To facilitate the delivery, design, and concept work for a future Class of Royal Navy Submarine.

As the demand for our services continues to grow, we are now looking to appoint a Senior Product Safety Engineer to provide support for projects for a key Client. This will be to support to the Principal Product Safety Engineer and Engineering Delivery Manager in the development, delivery and maintenance of the Project Product Safety Management System and Product Safety Case thus ensuring products are safe to own and legal to operate.

Key Accountabilities

  • Safety Management System development and maintenance including Process updates.

  • Production of Safety Management Plans.

  • Hazard identification and management.

  • Risk assessment.

  • Product Safety case production.

  • Technical report writing.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Essential

  • Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Professional chartership or working towards.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and testing submarines lifecycle phases.

  • Awareness of the challenges posed by the environment that the product will be exposed to.

  • The ability to analyse complex problems and identify the most critical issues.

  • Ability to interpret technical data and produce clear, logical and robust safety arguments.
