About the Opportunity:

Jacobs are offering an incredible opportunity to work in a very rewarding and exciting framework. The design of the next generation of Royal Navy submarines is underway following the award of two contracts to UK industry worth £85 million each. Jacobs are working directly with BAE Systems to provide expertise in the design and delivery of the future Class of Royal Navy Submarines.

As the demand for our services continues to grow, we are now looking to appoint Senior and Principal Mechanical Engineers to provide support for various projects. The Mechanical Engineer position shall provide support to the Principal Engineer, Engineering Manager, and/or external specialists during development and analysis of mechanical systems.

This position can facilitate a flexible hybrid working arrangement with applications accepted UK wide. Travel to client site (Barrow-in-Furness) will be required (further discussed upon application).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the development of design solutions to agreed time, cost, and quality in accordance with project or business milestones.

  • Supporting the Principal Engineer/Engineering Manager in developing and managing requirements and acceptance criteria specific to a system or product and/or across a system of systems, platform or programme

  • Producing documentation required to support the design review process, including diagrams; technical specifications; supporting calculations; design evidence and justifications

  • Undertake design reviews and presentations to customers.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • BEng (Hons)/MEng or equivalent in a relevant STEM degree

  • CEng or IEng preferred but not essential

  • Knowledge and experience with mechanical equipment and components (heat exchangers, pumps, diesel generators, hydraulic plant, compressors, etc.).
