Jacobs Field Services are offering a truly fantastic opportunity which will allow the successful individual to be involved across multiple client sectors from inception through to final delivery in the capacity of an apprentice welder within the engineering construction industry. Welders are required to read and interpret welding specifications to establish the correct process to be used, select the correct material and welding equipment and the required preparation of the material for welding. The welding process may be performed manually or may be performed by specialist equipment as an automated or mechanised process. Each welding operation carries a varying level of complexity which demands a great deal of skill, focus and competent technique from the welder to ensure that the fusion of materials meets the strict tolerances and quality standards required.
About the opportunity:
Based primarily at our new Barton upon Humber workshop facility with regular attendances on local Humber and Yorkshire based client sites as well as on numerous sites around the UK. You will work in the role of Apprentice Welder gaining skills from experienced tradesmen who will mentor you in developing your core skills.
The role will be predominantly based working from the Humber Facility in Barton Upon Humber. At times to assist in the training, knowledge gathering and to broaden the apprentices experience, work may be carried out across industrial sites in the Lincolnshire and Humber area client sites.
Training will be across multiple forms of welding processes, working toward Lloyds certified welding competencies across structural and piping materials, working to set procedures and quality documents to log and track the fabrication process.
This is a craft level Role, overseen by a supervisor, and working as part of a team.

The requirements for an Apprentice Welder throughout their training will be:
Ability to follow instruction and contribute to effective working relationships.
Follow safety instructions to work safely and minimise risk to self and others in the facility.
Maintain good time keeping and attendance for all training and work assignments.
Interpret welding procedures, specifications and standards in engineering construction.
Maintain good documentation practices to complete work pack documentation
Join materials in engineering construction by TIG welding.
Join materials in engineering construction by flux cored welding.
Join materials in engineering construction by MMA welding.
Join materials in engineering construction by MIG/MAG welding.
Career Progression and Further Training
On completion of a successful apprenticeship, welders have the potential to progress their career in various ways, these could include
Learn additional welding techniques and processes including the Level 4 Diploma High Integrity Welding qualification.
Train as a Welding Supervisor in QCF Level 4 Diploma in Managing Welding operations.
Train as a welding inspector / QA role
