As global supply and demand for water intensifies, solving the world’s most complex water challenges demands different thinking – and that’s where we come in. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Water team in New England. As a member of the Jacobs team you will work on a variety of exciting and challenging water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance and treatment planning and design projects throughout the region.

This position will primarily support senior level engineers and project managers with the growth and delivery of our municipal water projects. You will be responsible for conducting evaluations, designs, and provide services during construction at municipal water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities. The applicant should be self-motivated with a long-term desire to grow personally as well as professionally. Each project will provide career opportunities while delivering transformative projects for our clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating and working with a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of water, wastewater, and stormwater design projects.

  • Participating in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects and tasks.

  • Coordinating project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians within the local and regional water group.

  • Completing civil design calculations for a variety of projects, sketches, technical comparisons, and similar technical work as required by each assignment.

  • Assisting in the development of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

  • Participating in professional organizations for marketing, industry recognition, networking, and building the Jacobs brand.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other related engineering discipline, is required.

  • At least 3 years of consulting experience for water and wastewater clients.

  • Experience in serving various clients involving a wide variety of fields including drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater conveyance systems.

  • Demonstrated understanding of water and wastewater conveyance and/or treatment processes and technologies, master planning and condition assessments.

  • Willingness to learn Jacobs’ proprietary tools.

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.  

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.   

  • Technical writing, reviewing, and providing clear, concise input to investigations, memorandums, or solutions reports.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of local and state design codes and standards.

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Experience in AutoCAD and ESRI ArcGIS is required.

*Ideally, You’ll Also Have: *

  • Professional Engineer license, or the ability to obtain within one year.

  • Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or equivalent.

  • Experience managing deliverables to scope, schedule and budget.

  • Experience providing services during construction.

  • Involvement in professional society organizations, community organization or other leadership roles with volunteer organizations.

  • Self-motivated, initiator; demonstrated through professional society involvements or related activities.
