Being an updater: Conduct Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) plan sheet markups (made by other engineers), using project and agency CAD standards. Document completed changes using the project's quality control standards. Conduct traffic studies and prepare transportation simulation models under supervision based on standard analysis practices and methods. Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal project team. Develop transportation design plans, specifications, and estimates in accordance with agency standards. Draft clear and concise technical report sections to communicate findings. Review and annotate transportation design plans, specifications, and estimates prepared by other engineers, ensuring their alignment with established standards and guidelines. Additionally, I will conduct thorough quality assurance checks on all transportation design deliverables to guarantee compliance with the prescribed criteria. Manage and supervise tasks in a discipline lead role. Overseeing project from scoping to completion, identifying staff and other resources needed to ensure successful project delivery. Provide technical leadership, identifying and addressing needs based on experience in engineering, transportation modeling, data analysis, and design. Examine and give guidance on transportation models and traffic analysis. Scrutinize technical reports and offer recommendations to pertinent communities and groups to facilitate decision-making (e.g., elected officials, clients, general public). Provide mentorship for colleagues with less experience. Business Development: be involved in business development by evaluating alternative technical concept design options for project proposals and preparing workload level of effort estimates.

The prevailing salary range for this position is $116,210 to $161,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or a closely related field and 60 months of experience in the job offered or a closely related Civil Engineering occupation.

Special Skills or Other Requirements:

Expertise/ knowledge of: Performing engineering design for traffic signals, roadway signing, ITS, 3D camera, communication, and related technologies. Developing maintenance of traffic plans and temporary traffic control plans. Supporting design-build projects and project/construction management work, including quantity calculations, cost estimates, and other documentations. Advanced AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads, Openroads, GuideSIGN, Bluebeam design experience. Transportation planning and analysis software, such as VISSIM, Viswalk, Synchro, SimTraffic, and HCS. Travel Demand Modeling Software (Emme or TransCAD). Data analysis and tool development using Python, Java, VBA. GIS software, such as ArcGIS. Traffic safety analysis. Transportation design and operation regulations for Washington state and Puget Sound agencies (SDOT, King County Metro, Sound Transit). Proficient in MS Offices, Teams, SharePoint and ProjectWise.

Must have a valid Driver’s license and ability to remain to operate motor vehicles.

Must have a Professional Engineer license in the State of Washington or ability to obtain within 6 months.
