Position Summary

In this role, the Environmental and/or Civil EIT will perform aspects of engineering and design functions and support environmental and civil investigation and compliance projects, including all phases of planning, data analysis as well as reporting, oversight and data management. Perform routine aspects of engineering requiring knowledge and application of basic environmental/civil engineering principles under close supervision; work is reviewed for adequacy and accuracy. Jacobs has several openings in their Yakima,WA and Bellevue, WA offices.

  • Perform a variety of assignments involved in either the coordination of various civil/environmental engineering water related designs (design of streams, piping, and canals), grading plans, construction, purchasing, scheduling and start up aspects of a project, or the technical excellence of the environmental engineering portion of a project across all disciplines

  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks such as conceptual plan preparation and site design

  • Assist Project Manager, other engineers, and technical leads as necessary

  • Ability to assist and/or lead small projects or large tasks and interface directly with customer/client

  • Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects

  • Assist in developing plans, specifications, and estimates as part of the design and contract development team.

  • Perform on-site construction oversight and compliance duties when required

  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering construction drawings, engineering studies and technical reports, design manuals, codes, and regulations.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise written correspondence, reports, and recommendations.

  • Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers, environmental staff, and technicians in his/her discipline group.

  • Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers/Managers.

  • May attend design review meetings, and interact with clients as his or her level of experience progresses

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited university is preferred.

  • EIT certificate preferred

  • 0-2 years of environmental compliance and engineering experience preferred

  • At least one 2 to 3 month design internship on transportation, water, and/or land development projects is preferred

  • Familiarity with CAD software required

  • Familiarity with modeling software (Civil 3D or InRoads) preferred

  • Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) certification preferred

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required

  • Enthusiastic, dependable, self-starter, who is organized and able to work effectively with minimal supervision preferred

  • Willing to work in remote locations periodically
