Jacobs Estimating Professional Intermediate in Bellevue, Washington
Prepares total project cost estimates for road/ bridge/ transit/ rail projects using preliminary design criteria and narrative information; and documents estimate assumptions and conditions. Reviewing project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to ensure that all necessary information is included in the estimates. Prepares detailed total cost estimates based on 30% to 100% complete design drawings and specifications including total project estimate compilation, cost estimate presentation and reporting, back up documentation, and assumption and basis of the estimates. Prepares detailed independent cost estimates (ICE) for construction changes for all work category disciplines; coordinates with design groups, and project manager. Prepares cost estimates for funding agreements and conversion of cost estimates to the required federal transit administration (FTA) formats for funding and grant request submittals. Attend meetings with design groups, project managers, clients to determine scope and discuss costs for various projects and to resolve scope and costs for proposed changes.
Telecommuting is allowed.
TRAVEL: 5% domestic travel to meet clients.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil engineering/Construction Engineering and 1 year of work experience as an estimator or closely related occupation or Bachelor degree or foreign equivalent in Civil engineering/Construction Engineering and 3 years of work experience as an estimator or closely related occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise/ knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Required expertise/ knowledge includes: Preparation and analysis of total cost estimates for road/ bridge/ transit/ rail projects using preliminary design criteria and narrative information to document assumptions and conditions. Preparation and analysis of complex costing data and comprehensive reports. Computer and project controls/project management, and estimating software and tools: HeavyBid, MS Office, Bluebeam, Onscreen Takeoff. Analysis and review of financial, project and related budgetary information to determine impact on projects and prepare accurate cost estimates. Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations relating to transportation.
