Position Summary

Jacobs is seeking an entry to junior level landscape designer with an interest in environmental restoration and urban design who can provide expertise in AutoCad and graphic design. This designer will join our Bellevue Environmental Science and Planning office and work under the supervision and mentorship of a licensed landscape architect.

  • Assist staff with contract and permit drawings

  • Assist staff with designs and review for environmental restoration or urban projects

  • Understand and implement standards, codes, and technical requirements

  • Develop graphic presentations through computer programs and hand sketches

  • Work between design and analysis programs to ensure that features are projected in the correct datum in both programs

  • Write, edit, and produce succinct, coherent documents within the Microsoft Office Suite of programs

  • Use Microsoft Excel at an intermediate to expert level

  • Attend meetings to present CADD information, practices, and methods in a professional and engaging manner to clients and coworkers

  • Work in a collaborative interdisciplinary team environment, working closely with engineers, landscape architects, architects, planners, and biologists


  • Bachelors or Masters degree in landscape architecture from a college or university accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) is required

  • 1 to 3 years of professional design experience in an office setting is required

  • Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is required

  • Knowledge of native and ornamental plants suitable for the northwest climate is required

  • Ability to hand sketch and communicate design ideas graphically is required

  • Ability to work independently as well as in groups is required

  • Experience working with environmental restoration and/or urban design projects is preferred

  • Experience in irrigation design preferred

  • Aspiring landscape designer or landscape architect who is seeking entry into the consulting field is preferred
