Your Impact:

Jacobs’ Bellevue and Seattle offices are seeking a senior-level environmental, urban, or land use planner who can manage preparation of State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) documentation for major institution and infrastructure projects in the Pacific Northwest. This role will oversee preparation of complex environmental documents including checklists, Environmental Impact Statements, and supporting technical documents and coordinate with clients, discipline leads, technical and support staff, subconsultants, and stakeholders. This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to influence and provide leadership as part of the quickly-growing Jacobs’ environmental practice in the Pacific Northwest. The duties of this role include project/task management, interagency/interdisciplinary coordination, public involvement, business development, and opportunities to build a team and mentor staff. The position will be part of a team of over 100 planners and scientists in the Northwest.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in environmental studies, planning, policy, science, or other related field

  • 10+ years of experience in environmental planning, analysis, and studies

  • Proficiency with SEPA

  • Knowledge of SEPA analysis and document preparation, Growth Management Act (GMA) compliance, comprehensive and submarea planning and land use code analysis

  • Knowledge of Washington State and local regulatory requirements and permitting processes, specifically including the City of Seattle Major Institution Master Plan (MIMP) process

  • Experience in interagency/interdisciplinary coordination, risk identification and management

  • Demonstration of business development knowledge with an effective ability to market state, local, and private clients to secure environmental and planning-centric work

  • Preparation of SEPA documents, including Categorical Exemption documentation, checklists, and Environmental Impact Statements, including:

  • Natural, social and economic environment analysis and completion of discipline reports/documents

  • Document preparation, production, publication, and distribution

  • Public involvement experience including plan development and implementation in hearing, meetings, and comment collection/evaluation/response.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively manage scope, schedule and budgets for environmental documents of varying size

  • Ability to support market assessments, prepare scopes of work, conduct quality control reviews, and participate in support and/or lead roles in business development, including proposal preparation and interviews

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • 8+ years of experience with land development/building projects

  • Experience with City of Seattle MIMP process and documentation

  • City of Seattle or King County project experience

  • Proficiency with NEPA

  • Project management experience
