The position is for a Traffic Signals and Illuminiation Design Engineer in our Bellevue, WA office. Our primary markets are transportation projects for public agency clients including WSDOT, counties and cities. Projects types include Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build. The ideal candidate will have strong design skills in producing construction plans, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates as described below, and some experience in task management. The position responsibilities include:
Design of roadway illumination for interstates and local roads using IES RP-08-14, IES RP-22, and WSDOT highway standards.
Design of traffic signal installations including traffic signals, RRFB pedestrian crossings and mid-block pedestrian crossings for new, modified and temporary systems.
Power distribution for electrical roadway items, such as illumination and ITS circuitry.
Production of plans, specifications, and cost estimates following client requirements and a quality assurance program.
Preparation of supporting design calculations including line loss, conduit sizing and junction box sizing.
Task Management in estimating work hours, scheduling, tracking budgets.
Facilitating agreements between utilities for clients.
Provide basic construction services for contracts including answering RFIs, shop drawings review and preparation of as-built drawings.
Preparation of reports and memorandums as required for design elements and submittal packages.
Bachelor of Science in Civil or Electrical Engineering is required.
A minimum of 2 years of experience is preferred.
Must have demonstrable skills in written and verbal communication.
Ability to work with a team to meet project schedule and design challenges is required.
Must have CADD proficiency (AutoCad and/or MicroStation).
AGI32 Design Software proficiency is desired.
Must be proficient with MS Office software, such as Word and Excel.
