Jacobs Technology Group is a performance unit of our Critical Mission Solutions (CMS) Line of Business. The Jacobs CMS Technology Group specializes in the design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research and development facilities, including, as examples, wind tunnels (aerospace, automotive, and motorsports), rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities . Our projects span the automotive, motorsports, defense, nuclear, and aerospace markets. BRIEF OUTLINE OF SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The TECH Group (JTG) within Jacobs Technology provides design and build services for government and commercial clients worldwide. The market areas served are most notably test facilities and scientific facilities. JTG is looking for a Controls Engineer to support projects ranging from small studies to multi-million dollar turn-key supply. The successful candidate must be team-oriented, organized, able to communicate to all levels of the organization, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
The responsibilities include:
Develop hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems.
Develop control system software designs
Develop control system software in PLC ladder logic, function block, HMI programming, etc.
Develop interfaces to test facility equipment using hardwired interfaces and industrial networks
Apply closed loop controls methods to control continuously variable systems using PID algorithms
Support hardware assembly and fabrication.
Perform facility startup, checkout and commissioning, domestically and abroad.
Communicate with clients and management regarding status.
Coordinate with other engineering discipline and departments to ensure success.
This position will require control system design and implementation that will include temperature, pressure, model positioning, system and human safety, and other advanced systems to meet the needs of today’s growing technology industry.

We are looking for a team member who will work to ensure client satisfaction and deliver projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program. 1-5 years’ experience in control systems or data acquisition systems. Candidate must be experienced in software skills such as LabVIEW, C/C++/C#, Matlab/Simulink, and PLC ladder logic. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs is required.
The successful candidate will have an interest and background in electronics and instrumentation, specifically in control and data acquisition related areas such as PLCs, drive systems, motion systems, sensors/transmitters, actuators, PID control and communication networks. A solid math background is required in order to understand/select/develop data uncertainty calculations, digital filter algorithms, advanced control algorithms, process simulations, etc. The primary responsibility of the candidate is to perform control system projects.
The ability to estimate work, track and assess progress, set technical direction, develop ingenious alternative approaches when necessary, and similar skills are the secondary requirements for a successful candidate. A drive to participate on teams or alone to design, develop, and deliver control and data acquisition system projects that achieve the technical requirements, are within budget, and within schedule is an important requirement of the candidate.
