Jacobs is growing its UK space business and is seeking a talented Senior Space Solution/Missions Architect who can demonstrate experience and significant knowledge in the fields of Space Mission Concepts, Spacecraft Systems Engineering, Operations Concept development, Space Data Management. You will enable the realisation and growth within UK and Europe’s Space sector - and significantly add to the space heritage and credibility that comes from Jacobs 50 years involvement in Space in the US with NASA.

The suitable candidate is expected to have relevant detailed technical experience across multiple space segment disciplines, and a strong understanding of the technical requirements for the global space ecosystem. This role is also required to support Jacobs Space business development interests, seeking opportunities in space sector within the UK and Europe covering both commercial and non-commercial opportunities. The suitable candidate shall have a passion for space and developing a space business and be comfortable helping to build new connections and win new work for Jacobs and our partners.

Being part of a small team in a larger organisation, working to pivot that organisation towards the space sector, the successful candidate must demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and be able to mobilise and inspire diverse virtual teams to successfully pursue space sector growth opportunities in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Space Solutions/Missions Architect, identifying space focused value propositions, pivoting and enhancing existing organisation capabilities from both the space and non-space sectors

  • Providing consultancy and advisory services to clients to identify and formulate challenges into Space based technical solutions

  • Building client and market recognition of Jacobs as a space focused service provider outside of the core US market

  • Being a thought leader for the sector and establishing strong technical relationships for Jacobs with key space sector stakeholders

  • Identifying supplier partnerships to complement and enhance our space focused value propositions

  • Identifying and supporting the pursuit of space sales opportunities

  • Bridging the gap between developing concept client solutions during opportunity pursuit and mobilising those solutions into operational delivery teams

  • Being an integral member of the Space Sales team focused on building a commercial Space business and building excitement within Jacobs UK for Space

  • Developing key customer, space sector stakeholder, delivery partner and academic relationships

  • Work closely with the Project Manager to help plan and organise various project tasks and resources

  • Support securing of future project funding through:

  • proposal writing, attending and presenting at meetings with potential customers and agencies,

  • assist in identification of funding streams,

  • understanding the intricacies of agency funding including key ‘win factors’ such as geo-return, etc.

Candidates shall be able to demonstrate experience in at least one of the areas below.

  • Space Launch, Space Flight, Space Operations

  • Satellite Communications projects

  • Payload development and deployment

  • Space standards for Space applications and testing

  • Space research and development

  • Sales finding the opportunities within the Space Market

In addition, desirable candidates will be familiar with the Space regulatory environment and UK National Space Strategy.

  • Our prospective clients and delivery teams cover a wide range of markets and UK geographies and therefore some UK and international travel will be necessary.
