About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Civil Engineer with experience of design in the fields of flood risk management and river engineering to join our multi-disciplinary team in central Birmingham.

As a Civil Engineer with our Water Catchment Management team you will be involved in the design of projects for the Environment Agency (both regionally and nationally), Lead Local Flood Authorities and other public and private clients including water companies, Network Rail, and major airports. You will be involved in the design of earthwork embankments, conveyance channels, reinforced concrete structures, steelwork structures, flow control structures, flood gates, demountable defences as well as natural flood management solutions.

As part of our supportive team you will have the opportunity to expand your skills and will be involved in diverse teams delivering multi-disciplinary projects. You will have the opportunity to become involved in maintaining and developing strong ongoing client relationships, helping us win new work, supporting project and team management and contributing your own innovative ideas to help us find affordable, sustainable and low carbon solutions for our clients.

Our project portfolio spans the full lifecycle from feasibility studies through appraisal and optioneering to detailed design and site support providing a wide range of opportunities to develop your experience and advance your career.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in Civil Engineering

  • Awareness of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk management and drainage strategies

  • Interest in outline, planning, tender and detailed design of structural and non-structural works in the fields of river engineering and/or flood risk management.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Excellent literacy, communication, analytical and numeracy skills
