About the Opportunity

We are continuing to grow the depth and breadth of the technical services that the ground engineering team can provide for our clients. As a result, we are looking to recruit an experienced Geo-digital Engineer who can combine their knowledge of Ground Engineering with their experience in application development and/or data analytics to help accelerate the digital transformation of our business.
This is a key position in the Geo-digital team which will suit a committed and ambitious candidate who has skills in the development of software, digital tools and processes for use by the Tunnel & Ground Engineering (TGE) team. Experience of developing and delivering software tools for use by Engineers and Geologists on a variety of platforms will be essential. The successful candidate will also possess sufficient knowledge of geotechnical design and analysis to ensure the successful translation of this into the application development.
The role will include:
Contribute to our coding and app developments within the TGE UK & Europe team
Develop and deliver in-house tools via a variety of platforms to drive quality and efficiency
Contribute to the development of routines for automation of drawing, calculation and modelling tasks, including training and application of specialist software and/or coding
Coordinate and collaborate with other teams on the development of aligned and integrated design or process improvement tools
Support in raising the profile of digital approaches through preparation and delivery of presentations, training seminars, etc for the team
Assist in developing in-house skills through training and mentoring of staff
Work within and assist in developing BIM-compliant Common Data Environments as employed by Jacobs and their clients
Carry out other activities related to multi-disciplinary projects as directed by the TGE Discipline Lead.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
GCSE pass at grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language
A-Level pass at Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths
BEng in Civil Engineering or Equivalent
Knowledge and extensive experience of software development within a civil engineering environment
Knowledge and extensive experience of using software development environments (e.g. Visual Studio, GitHUB)
Knowledge and experience numerical modelling for civil engineering purposes
Excellent ICT skills
Knowledge and experience of Ground Engineering related design
Ability to work to deadlines
Experience of working as a geotechnical practitioner
Knowledge and experience of using Geotechnical data management software
Familiarity with IFC, Uniclass 2015 and other relevant information classification systems
Experience of statistical approaches to data analysis
