Your Impact:

As part of our multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Birmingham our Building Services team are involved in a variety of planned and reactive maintenance, refurbishment and new build projects including several multi-million-pound development schemes and framework agreements within the construction industry.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer who is looking to further develop their experience and responsibilities within the Building Services sector within our Birmingham Office

The work at present mainly involves working with our framework partners at Wolverhampton Homes on a variety of local residential low and high rise projects. We are also currently working for Worcestershire County Council & University of Warwick on various projects. Outside of our main local clients we support the wider business on other national / international major schemes including Aviation, Highways, Rail, MoD etc

The post involves leading the designs of Mechanical Building Services projects, reporting to the Regional MEP Lead, mentoring the younger engineers and liaising with the clients.

Responsibilities

  • Establish the brief from the client

  • Carry out designs of Mechanical Building services with little or no supervision using industry standard calculation software such as Hevacomp and IES and manage time to meet deadlines effectively

  • Work with and assist other Senior Mechanical & Electrical Engineers together with other members of a multidiscipline design team

  • Produce briefs, specifications, design drawings, survey work

  • Write technical reports and produce detailed calculations

  • Manage / Mentor Junior engineers

  • Assist with Fee Bids and any brief changes

  • Check, Review and Approve technical documents produced by others

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Qualification to Degree Standard in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience of UK regulations is essential

  • Experience of working within Building Services engineering design consultancy practice.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCad & Revit MEP

  • Thermal modelling experience would be an advantage

  • An appreciation of quality assurance and business management

  • Good communication skills

  • Able to work effectively with colleagues and with a professional approach to external clients

  • An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance

  • Must be of smart appearance with a professional attitude and enthusiastic

  • Being able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Good report writing skills, with good overall MS Office experience

  • Available to travel short term in UK and overseas
