Our Strategic Consulting & Digital Solutions Business Unit is a team of approximately 800 staff who offer high level, strategic consultancy services both directly to our clients and in support of projects across all other Operating Units within B&I Europe and the wider Jacobs.
The Jacobs ‘Digital Solutions’ team delivers efficiency across projects through the use of innovative technology, advanced spatial analysis, and effective data management solutions.
To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations, we currently have an opportunity for a Senior or Principal GeoSpatial Consultant within our Digital Solutions team, preferably to be based in Birmingham. The successful person will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.
The role is required to complement the progressive Digital Solutions team, supporting Utilities, Highways, Rail; and Energy and Environment sectors. With exposure to a wide range of market sectors and an extensive knowledge pool, you will deliver dynamic, innovative solutions to internal and external clients.
Primary Job Responsibilities
The principal function of this position is to assist the Geospatial team in all aspects of operational delivery and development of the Geospatial solution business. Working with a range of data capture, analysis and visualisation technologies, you will provide critical input to delivering projects on time and budget. They will provide technical expertise and leadership on projects and support the continued development of the infrastructure data management business.
Identify and develop appropriate Geospatial data solutions (image processing, survey, photogrammetry and LiDAR) and support development across a range of spatially related technologies for multi-disciplinary projects
Support the continued development and implementation of asset related Geospatial data solutions
Assistance with business development, client management skills – bid writing and presentation
Assistance in the preparation of deliverables, including technical and non-technical reports and presentations
Wide ranging analysis and creation of complex datasets, ability to work with complex data sets
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A problem solver with honours degree qualification in a relevant discipline
Exemplary focus, ambition and attention to detail
Advanced numeracy, analytical and computer skills for data manipulation and management
Proficient written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey technical details to a non-technical audience
Be self-motivated and proactive with the ability to ask questions where necessary, solve problems, and actively own issues through to conclusion.
Provision of guidance, training and mentoring to other colleagues and act as a key technical geospatial contact
At least 10 years’ experience of developing and delivering geospatial solutions
Experienced of spatial data management and analysis, knowledge of data and metadata standards
Present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
Delivery of geospatial data projects and tasks to defined scope, budgets and timescales
Experience in management of data across the whole of project lifecycle
A master’s degree and/or proven capability in one of the following: Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, LiDAR
Evidence of delivering diligently to an agreed scope of work to time, quality and budget requirements
Knowledge and experience of the full data migration process, from source to target data mapping.
Experience of Geospatial solutions application to engineering / utilities sectors
