Jacobs System Network Administrator in Bluemont, Virginia

Your Impact:

Jacobs is seeking a System/Network Administrator to join our team supporting our government customer in the National Capital Region. You’ll be a part of a team that helps shapes the strategic future for our clients and define the strategy to get them there. This position requires an active DoD TS security clearance with SCI eligibility.

Responsibilities:

Work as part of a small communications support team providing system and network operations support to current IT and telecommunications, networks, systems, services; and engineering support to expand the network architecture and future capabilities.

In this role as the team’s System/Network Administrator, you will:

  • Perform network, server and security audits, review logs for errors and trends, and ensure proper function.

  • Manage Active Directory, Windows patching, and STIG implementation

  • Use monitoring, observability, service management and virtualization tools to manage performance.

  • Administer the SIMS security data management system and Cisco Call Manager

  • As an integral team member, you will expand your knowledge and skills beyond the fixed network environments as you operate, maintain, integrate, test, and troubleshoot extendable, transportable communications equipment kits, including secure and non-secure networks, IT and RF systems providing voice, video, and data services.

  • Assist in the design, solutioning and implementation for future network expansion and the cyber physical protection and hardening of network infrastructure.

  • You will directly support the customer supporting various IT system projects and initiatives.

  • Use problem solving skills and experience to analyze, evaluate, and recommend solutions to meet future systems capability requirements.

  • Make recommendations to support integration of fixes, modifications, enhancements, new systems, and new capabilities into existing operations.

  • Support technical review and provide to plans and CONOPS.

  • Participate in activities to ensure knowledge creation/sharing and integration within and across the work program as appropriate.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Management, or related discipline with a minimum of (3) years of relevant work experience supporting Network Operations and Microsoft Active Directory environments

  • Active DoD TS security clearance with SCI eligibility

  • CompTIA Security + certification

  • Experience with Cisco or Juniper routers, switches, gateways, and UC appliances.

  • Monitoring and service management platforms, such as Solarwinds or similar products

Preferred:

  • Current Microsoft Administer track training and certifications a plus

  • SIMS software experience a plus

  • Experience with VMWare, VSphere, and VCenter is strongly desired

  • Experience maintaining Cisco Call Manager

  • Experience with hardening systems and reading/implementing STIG guidance is strongly desired

  • Experience with cryptographic systems, radio systems, video teleconferencing systems, satellite systems, network architecture and/or inside cable plant distribution systems.
