Jacobs Civil/Environmental Engineer—Western U.S. in Boise, Idaho

When it comes to environmental consulting, we’re passionate about helping our communities today to improve our tomorrow. We’re looking for a Civil Design Engineer to support innovative waste solutions and other projects.

Based out of our Boise, ID office or one of our other Jacobs offices in the Western US, you’ll support solid waste, remediation, and sustainability projects for numerous public and private clients in key market areas. Your responsibilities will include supporting and delivering projects through design and engineering. You will help Jacobs advance the industry by delivering sustainable solutions that help our clients.

You’ll connect with other Jacobs’ practitioners throughout the US and Canadian markets, to design innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients. You’ll have opportunities to design landfill and remediation liners, ET covers, dredge prisms, closure caps, compost facilities, transfer stations, MRFs, and other related features. As an associate engineer, you’ll have opportunities to lead design tasks that should harness your ability to delegate and work with engineers and other design practitioners who are both more junior and more senior than you. These opportunities will give excellent opportunities to grow as you mentor more junior practitioners and learn from more senior practitioners. You’ll develop and maintain strong client relationships to organically drive business through proposals, networking, and sole source opportunities. Bring your engineering background, creativity, and desire to address many of today’s most prevalent waste, remediation, and sustainability issues, and we’ll empower you to deliver the boldest solutions for our clients.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering or related engineering degree.

• Experience with site civil design and 3-D modeling, including roadways, grading, drainage, and related technologies.

• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.

• Experience with report writing (engineering design reports, stormwater reports and/or specs).

Ideally, you’ll also have:

• Master’s degree in civil, environmental, or geotechnical engineering or related engineering degree.

• Professional design related experience

• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in Idaho, Washington, or your respective state, or possess the ability to gain licensure.

• Experience working with diverse, remote, teams.

• Experience with transfer stations, composting, waste collection and processing, sustainable waste management practices and waste-to-energy technologies.

• Project management experience, including proposal and business development experience.

• Experience with project and account management tools and applications, such as pricing tools, project tracking tools, and customer account relationship tools.
