We are currently seeking Sr. Electrical Engineer to be based in our Boston, MA office. The projects associated with this position will focus on low and medium voltage distribution systems for buildings, with a focus on life science and labs building. The applicant should be able to work independently and be able to apply advanced engineering techniques and analysis within the discipline. This position allows for considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments. Effective written and oral communication with project team members and with the customer is a key component of this position. May direct and coordinate various engineering disciplines for large scale engineering projects. Some domestic travel is required.
Carry out the responsibilities of a Lead Engineer on medium to large sized projects or provide technical support / leadership on small to medium size project.
Perform studies and develop scope of work and execution of the engineering work
Coordinate project electrical activities with a utility and other disciplines for their area of responsibility
Develop and maintain electrical project schedule, progress reports and cost estimates. Execute change management process
Supervise Juniors & Intermediate electrical engineers and designers. Interface with design group to monitor and control project schedule, electrical hours and electrical cost for their area of responsibility
Ensure consistency and integrity of electrical design throughout project and review design for logic and functionality
Perform Short Circuit Coordination Studies and Arc Flash Analysis.
Develop detailed electrical specifications for the project.
Perform / witness test at factory / site for all specified electrical equipment as required
Perform pre-commissioning and start-up activities for electrical systems
Field oversight of construction activities
BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required
At least 12 years' experience with specifications, engineering, design, construction and start-up oversight for low and medium voltage systems is required
At least 10 years of specialized work experience in a comparable consulting or A/E design firm
Knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards, i.e.; 70,70E,130,502,101,110, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required
Professional Engineering certification is required
At least 7 years AutoCAD and/or Revit experience
Experience using SKM and/or eTap Power Tools
Experience using Bentley BIM
Experience with Agi32 or equivalent lighting design software
