Jacobs Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts

Based in Boston, you’ll have the chance to perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation infrastructure projects for both public and private clients. Your engineering skills will be developed with design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including piles and drilled shafts, retaining walls and support of excavation systems.
You’ll also inspect geotechnical exploratory and construction related activities and specifically, develop as well as perform oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.

0 - 3 years’ design experience in a consulting/contracting environment
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering
Working knowledge of soil mechanics theory and laboratory testing techniques.
Engineer-In-Training certificate.
Master of Science in Civil Engineering beneficial but not required.
Willingness and flexibility to travel for work.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Computer skills including CADD, Microsoft Office.
Python programming and application of AI and ML in geotechnical engineering would be an added advantage.
Driver’s license and reliable vehicle will be required.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
At least a 3.0 GPA
MS degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
Previous internship in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems
Knowledge of Ensoft APile, LPile and Group, GeoStudio Slope/Rocscience SLIDE, GRLWeap, DeepEx, Bentley gINT, and AutoCAD
