Jacobs Operational Technology Cybersecurity Technologist, Senior - REMOTE in Boston, Massachusetts

If so, please explore the Jacobs Operational Technology Services Team - we provide Operational Technology services domestically and globally for internal and external clients across multiple critical infrastructure sectors.

We focus on operational technology, cybersecurity and industrial controls – this is NOT an IT position.

Successful candidate will assist multiple projects in the support and maintenance of technology solutions in the areas of Operational Technology (OT) including networking, servers, virtualization, and security technologies leveraging thorough Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, networking, and cybersecurity concepts.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior-level OT project input, design, engineering and cybersecurity consulting, supporting projects associated with industrial control systems (SCADA/DCS)

  • Assist in building and diversifying a larger team to help deliver design services, consulting and managed OT services to internal and external clients

  • Project and project-level task management will be required

  • Work closely with other technical teams (including I&C engineers and other specialists) to ensure adequate OT and cybersecurity solutions are in place throughout all systems and platforms to mitigate identified risks sufficiently

  • Meet project objectives, regulatory and client requirements

  • Support projects to achieve client expectations for quality, schedule and budget; participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance

  • Interact with clients, business groups, vendors and subcontractors

  • Help us implement and maintain Jacobs OT cyber standards both internally and externally

  • Travel to project sites to provide support of ICS networks, manage and maintain converged platforms, virtualization, networks, security platforms and various other OT/IoT technologies

  • Provide detailed network, cabling, server, rack elevation, and logical architecture diagrams for design and as-built submittals

  • Develop acceptance testing procedures and user manuals as needed

In an effort to meet today's technology and cybersecurity challenges, this position will require a focus on knowledge of future trends and technologies.

Travel is estimated up to about 40%.

This is a remote position in which work can be performed anywhere in the United States but will require travel to client sites.

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or another technical field is required (Masters degree or work experience can be used in lieu of a degree)

  • 5+ years of OT experience with Microsoft Windows Server design and administration, virtualization and converged platform technology design, implementation, and troubleshooting

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of three main disciplines we follow:

  • ICS Systems (Automation/SCADA)

  • Networking (as it applies to ICS)

  • Cybersecurity (OT)

  • Minimum 3 years OT network experience with LAN and WAN design, implementation and troubleshooting for switches, routers, firewalls, and various other network equipment

  • Willingness to travel including overseas assignments as the need arises

  • Knowledge of and experience in security processes and organizational design

  • Proven ability to effectively manage a team

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with an ability to understand the long-term ("big picture")

  • Experience with network analysis and penetration testing tools as BackTrack, Metasploit, Rapid 7 Nexpose, NMAP, and/or Wireshark

  • Strong interest in the field of cybersecurity in industrial control systems and internet of things

  • Consulting experience

  • Cisco CCNA, CCDA, Fortinet NSE-4, JNCIA or equivalent network certification

  • Ability to manage, assign tasks and contribute to multiple projects across different client base industries.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with the development of technical design documentation and technical reports

  • Familiarity with OT monitoring technologies such as: Claroty, Nozomi, Microsoft Defender for IoT (both OT and Enterprise), Armis, SCADA fence, Dark Trace, etc.

  • OSHA 10 training

  • Experience in leading OT design, integration or remediation teams

By joining the Jacobs team as an Operational Technologist Senior professional we'll help you grow professionally by having you participate in the design, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of ICS networks. You will handle complex technical challenges during design, installation and maintenance for ICS systems and networks and engage in the installation and configuration of network switches, routers, firewalls, virtualized servers, converged platforms, client workstations and various OT cybersecurity platforms and tools.

With a focus on critical infrastructure, you will be faced with challenges from a cybersecurity and system resiliency perspective to client organizational and personnel dynamics. The team designs and implements cybersecurity solutions for projects to enable compliance with cybersecurity best practices, regulations and guidelines to effectively operate and maintain designed solutions. Additionally, the team is responsible for analyzing impacts and exposures based on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and risks.
