Jacobs Early Career Field Environmental Technician– Cape Cod, MA in Bourne, Massachusetts

As the Field Environmental Technician, you will support Jacobs’ project at Joint Base Cape Cod (JBCC)and be responsible for completing a variety of field and technical project tasks. These tasks will include a mix of field work (90%) and office work (10%). Typical field work tasks include, but may not limited to, sampling various media (groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, cranberry fruit, fish, etc.), supporting the operation of a direct push drilling rig, obtaining water level measurements, completing field paperwork and documenting activities on site, and supervising subcontractors (drillers, surveyors, etc.). Typical office tasks include, but may not be limited to, data entry, coordination/logistics for field efforts, sample packaging and shipping, and safety and compliance-oriented tasks. You’ll deliver a significant field effort including the sampling of existing monitoring wells, and direct push drilling with the AFCEC-owned Geoprobe rig for collection of groundwater and soil samples. Associate degree or 2 years of formal technical training, or 5 years equivalent experience.

Ability/desire to work in the field up to 90%.

40-hour HAZWOPER training or ability to obtain.

Must be able to perform field work and maintain 40-hr HAZWOPER certification.

Eligibility to obtain a base access pass to JBCC.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

Residency in Cape Cod area.

Experience with various environmental media (soil, groundwater, soil gas, and surface water) investigations; contaminant fate and transport assessments.

Bachelor’s degree (completed at time of application) in civil, environmental, chemical engineering or related science degree.

Strong writing, communication, and leadership skills.

Strong work ethic, exhibit integrity and the highest quality in all activities.

Ability to work collaboratively, professionally, and effectively in teams.

Experience with monitoring wells.

Experience with direct push drilling.

Experience with Geoprobe drilling rigs.

Experience with water level monitoring.
