Wages –$34.76 per hour

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Mechanic to join our team. This position repairs automobiles, brucks, buses and other vehicles. Test drives vehicles and checks components using diagnostic equipment at Naval Base Kitsap near Silverdale & Poulsbo. Regular hours Monday-Friday with overtime available. Summary/General Description Of Job:

The Automotive Mechanic repairs automobiles, trucks, buses and other vehicles. Test drives vehicles and checks components, using equipment diagnostic devices.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Inspects, maintains, modifies, and repairs all types of gasoline‑powered vehicles and equipment, including autos, light trucks, manlifts; electric, diesel and gasoline forklifts.

  • Determines general condition of vehicles or equipment, nature of malfunctions, and extent of needed repair, using equipment such as aligning machines, test equipment, gauges, oscilloscopes, stroboscopes, dynamometers, wheel balancing, etc.

  • Checks condition and replaces all fluids, coolants, and lubricants as needed. Repairs vehicles by removing, disassembling, repairing, and replacing parts, and cleaning, reassembling, and replacing assemblies.

  • Uses hoists, hand tools, power tools, and power equipment such as valve re-facing machines, brake drum lathes, aligning machines, etc.

  • Maintains and cleans tools and equipment.

  • Performs general preventive maintenance as assigned.

  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.

  • Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.

  • Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.

  • Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.

  • Having the ability to work well under pressure.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):

Mandatory

  • Four years’ experience as automotive mechanic in commercial or governmental repair work.

  • Must have full knowledge of and the ability to troubleshoot and repair both gasoline and light duty diesel‑powered internal combustion engines, associated power trains, brake systems, and all other vehicular component parts.

  • Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications.

  • Must obtain and maintain required explosives certifications when assigned to ordnance operations.

  • Must possess valid Washington State driver's license with acceptable driving record.

  • Must meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.

  • Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.

  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
