About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units within Jacobs and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.

Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.

The Joint Design Office is managed by Hinkley Point C, Licensee and Manager of the HPC Project. It is made up of staff from HPC managing the teams and owning the processes, EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) who study and approve design changes as well as non-conformances within their scope of delegated authority and Contractors who previously delivered the detailed design.

Jacobs are seeking a Technical Configuration Manager to be responsible for a small team of technical configuration engineers. This team ensures the optimisation of the technical activities by providing support to all engineering teams based in the Joint Design Office (JDO - located on HPC site) for the UK HPC EPR project. It ensures a strong link between the configuration management activities performed in the Edvance back-office and on the JDO. Key responsibilities are:

  • Design Change Management by piloting and coordinating the technical aspects of the Configuration (Design changes/Open points/Referential) between the different internal and external stakeholders ensuring a consistent and optimised (challenges the technical impacts) design for the Project

  • Ensuring the resolution of various cross-functional technical issues by coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders

  • Participating where necessary in coordination meetings organised by the various parties involved in the project (modification committee, project decision meeting)

  • Presenting and sharing progress, including KPI production, data analysis to support management and decision making

  • Participation in the Technical Referential Committee, Change Management Boards, NI Risks & Opportunities Committee

  • Internal quality control: checks the consistency of the engineering deliverables

  • Management of experience feedback from previous projects

  • Work closely with the Client and the Clients Tier 1 Civils Contractor

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Science, engineering master degree or equivalent

  • Experience in design and coordination of technical topics in (at least) one of the following disciplines: nuclear safety, systems, civil work, layout, piping, HVAC, Electrical or Equipment

  • Knowledge of the HPC project and associated studies/doctrine/configuration management

  • Understanding of layout rules for an industrial project, in particular for the Nuclear Industry

  • Awareness of construction specifications for mechanical and electrical disciplines

  • Good capacity to animate, follow and coordinate Design Changes and Open Points

  • Experience in the management of various cross-functional technical issues by coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability

  • Good organizational, writing, and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realization of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents

  • Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream disciplines
