Reporting to the Section Leader – ANZ Rail Systems, as the Lead Rolling Stock Engineer - Rail, you will be developing specifications, designs and tests of electrical and software-based systems across light and heavy rail Rolling Stock platforms as well as reviewing / checking circuit and system performance against specifications. You will be also be looked at to demonstrate the proper integration of rolling stock within the broader transport systems, including compatibility with the track, civils, kinematic envelope and other railway assets whilst providing senior mechanical engineering advisory services for rail clients across light rail and heavy rail networks.

Additionally, the Lead Rolling Stock Engineer - Rail will lead and manage the development of and contribute to tender documents, specifications, test plans, drawings, calculations and mechanical installation designs, operational and maintenance concepts related to Rolling Stock mechanical systems as well as the development of enabling infrastructure such as train stabling, cleaning and maintenance facilities.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Tertiary qualifications with experience in the delivery of large sized and medium risk Rolling Stock projects in full and on time.

  • Demonstrated senior experience specifying, designing, or testing Rolling Stock Mechanical systems such as bogies, structures, noise, vibrations, mechanical sub-systems and dynamics.

  • Proven working knowledge of industry standards from AS/RISSB and EN series The ability to identify and anticipate industry trends and develop strategic and tactical responses.

  • Proficient use of CAD packages to prepare and conduct mechanical system analysis and calculations.

  • Senior level awareness of mechanical design, manufacture and test obligations relating to environmental performance, dynamics, RAMS, SIL, and the demonstration of safety SFAIRP.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills which are applied to bring out the best in peers and to engage productively with clients.

  • Self-motivated, with capacity to work both independently and as part of a team (including virtual teams spread over multiple locations) and under the pressure of deadlines.

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to convey complex issues succinctly.
