With more than fifty years of Nuclear experience, Jacobs has unrivalled nuclear capability and provides full life-cycle solutions to our nuclear clients. Services include programme and project management, design and engineering, reactor support, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, (radioactive) waste management, decommissioning and clean-up.
We have consistently delivered value and innovation to technically challenging and complex nuclear and environmental-related projects by offering multidisciplinary capabilities, technical expertise, proven processes and a commitment to regulatory compliance, health, safety and quality workmanship.
Our Client is beginning to provide support for the Nuclear New Build (NNB) Sizewell C project (SZC). SZC is being approached as a strict duplication of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project.
Sizewell C (SZC) is a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy. As the second of the UK’s next generation of Nuclear power stations, SZC is both of high profile and high complexity
This role is to produce the SZC contractual documentation for the contracts under our Client responsibility. This includes all contract documentation.
There may be scope for increased SZC works in the future, in which case this role may evolve to manage a team of SZC Contract Engineers.
This role is a member of an integrated team seconded into Client team focused on providing high quality design, engineering knowledge & expertise.

For the Emergency Diesels, Ultimate Diesels, and the Filter Handling Machine contracts on the SZC project.
The main activities the production of the:
BSTC (contract specification)
LDRC (list of documents required from the contractor)
Tender Assessment Report
These will be a copy and paste of the HPC equivalent documentations.
However, they will require amending (through the production of a “cover note”) to accompany the HPC equivalent documentation.
To produce the cover note the SZC Contract Engineering Lead will review all contractual communications that occurred on the HPC equivalent contract and summarise them (if relevant) into the contract cover note.
In addition, the interfaces between that contractor design and Client design will be frozen based on the HPC agreed interfaces. The Contract Engineering Lead will include the frozen HPC interfaces within the cover note.
Occasional business trips – Bristol offices / London / Paris, France

Degree qualified engineer, civil discipline preferred.
Experience of managing contracts on the HPC or FA3 (Flamanville) projects.
Project engineering experience.
Experience reviewing contractor deliverables.
Contract management experience.
Contract tendering experience.
Able to screen large data sets, understand the key messages, and summarise them.
Able to produce clear unambiguous reports.
Flexible – able to develop a strategy / template / way of working to produce the required deliverables.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative
Results focused with the ability to meet commitments & deadlines
Highly organised with attention to detail
Ability to identify continuous improvements
Fluent in English – written & verbal
Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects
Experience of working in a fast pace engineering project environment
French language skills – written & verbal
Software & Tools:
CEMAR (would be advantageous)
MS Office & Outlook
- BPSS level clearance required
