As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C project, our Client provides Engineering Design support for the Balance of the Nuclear Island (BNI).
This role is a member of a large integrated team seconded into Client team focused on providing high quality design, engineering knowledge & expertise.
An experienced Steel Work Engineer is required to support the steelworks (SW) pilot in the delivery of the SW programme. As part of a team, the Steel Work Engineer will be responsible for preparing and delivering the documentation required to design and substantiate the secondary steel platforms within the Balance of Nuclear Island buildings on the Hinkley Point C project.
There will be occasional trips to Malakoff (Paris).

As part of the steelwork (SW) team, the Engineer will assist in:
1.Producing steelwork platform designs compliant with the ETC-C, other relevant codes,
2.Liaising with the building layout and piping teams to coordinate the design,
3.Maintaining Client’s QA procedures in delivering the SW design,
4.Working with the CAD designers in the preparation of the design drawings/models,
5.Managing engineering changes in line with company procedures,
6.Liaising with colleagues in Client office in Paris (Malakoff).

- Accepting candidates – Engineer with 4 to 8 years’ experience / Chartered with 8-15 years’ experience

Degree qualified in an appropriate technical discipline
Experience of structural steel design
Experience in the design of seismically qualified steel platforms and structures from concept to detailed design delivery
Experience of using 3D modelling and structural analysis tools
Navisworks, RSTAB or similar ie. STAAD Pro
Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations
Proficient user MS Office & Outlook
Concise, conscientious, organised with good writing skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative
Results focused with the ability to meet commitments & deadlines
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Fluent English – written & verbal
Knowledge and understanding of PWRs
PDMS experience would be useful
Membership of a Professional Institute leading to Chartered Status in a relevant topic area
Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects
French Language skills – written & verbal
The postholder should possess the ability to work autonomously under broad instructions. They must be a strong team player with good interpersonal skills. They should be able to meet commitments and deadlines with the ability to take a strategic view. The postholder should have good stakeholder management skills and be able to write clearly expressed, well presented reports.
