Jacobs QA Field Inspector in Brooklyn, New York
Our Construction Management Team is looking to add a QA Field Inspector in Brooklyn, NY, who is highly collaborative and capable of executing and administering QA responsibilities for our client (NYCHA) through the remaining construction phase and post-construction phase of the project. Reporting to the Project Manager, this is a site based position that interacts directly with the project team and general contractor. In this role you’ll monitor and inspect materials and to make recommendations to changes in procedures to senior staff. You’ll be a point of accountability to provide comprehensive QA oversight and compliance, analysis, documentation, and reporting. Utilizing your expertise, you’ll perform all aspects of daily QA inspections for ongoing work, assist and coordination and planning for upcoming work activities, and communicate with the project team to ensure the requirements of the project and client are successfully met. You will coordinate with and advise the Project Manager to ensure compliance with the Construction Manager’s QA/QC obligations and are well versed and adhering to their contractual reporting and document controls requirements in eBuilder, document control standards, and evaluations.
Responsibilities
Reviews and utilities eBuilder management interface assesses and document CM and GC contract compliance including but not limited to processes, documents, schedule, SSP, daily logs, toolbox talks, etc.
Confirms/corroborates review items found in Pre-Site Visit review.
Confirms contractual site documents are on site and current.
Conduct field inspections of ongoing contractor work activities
Coordinate with special inspectors and assist in oversight of required inspections
Review and identify deficiencies of ongoing contractor work activities
Assists NYCHA CSQ Inspectors during weekly site inspections
Meets with GC for pre-activity meetings, weekly superintendent meetings, review of project critical items list, and assists in resolving found issues
Utilizes eBuilder Non-Compliance Reporting to document non-compliant site observations performed by the contractor
Follow-up with GC to confirm Action Item resolution
Closes out Action Item and files document
Participates in weekly HSE field visits
Perform inspections of existing conditions and areas of construction and maintain log of maintenance issues to be remediated
Participate in other related project meetings with the Project Manager
Perform daily reporting of field observations and contractor performed work activities
Perform daily QA field inspections and ensure compliance with contract documents
Review Two Week Look Ahead Schedules and Monthly
Review of open and closed RFIs in coordination with ongoing work
Perform scope reviews of issued design changes (Sketches, Bulletins, Etc.)
Assist Project Manager in monthly reporting of completed and ongoing contractor work activities
Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Construction, or Engineering
4 years of Construction Management experience
Prior construction Quality Management experience
OSHA 30 certification
Knowledge of Site Safety Plans/PHSEP
Ability to navigate contract documents, drawings, and specifications
Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically Word and Excel
Ability to work on site Monday - Friday at the Coney Island project site
Valid State’s driver’s license and the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check
Willing to learn and adjust to NYCHA CPD Procedures
Ideally, you’ll also have
Familiarity with NYCHA contracts/Task Orders Local municipal construction experience
Familiarity with local municipality code requirements (NYC DOB)
