Jacobs is currently looking to hire an Intermediate Environmental Planner to join our dynamic team to provide technical support and guidance regarding construction permitting requirements to our multidisciplinary teams and clients during the design, construction and operations of infrastructure projects.

Based in our Burnaby, British Columbia (BC) office. You’ll be part of the Planning and Permitting practice and will work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams to oversee the environmental permitting and planning efforts of government and privately owned infrastructure projects. As a specialist in BC environmental permitting and planning, the successful candidate will also provide strategic input to the growth of the business, and technical support to business development efforts. Establish and maintain relationships with member of the public, government and non-government communities, associations, tenure holders and Indigenous communities. You’ll have the opportunity to develop staff through on-the-job mentorship. Bring your expertise in environmental science and desire to conserve our natural resources, and we’ll empower you to deliver the boldest solutions for our clients.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• B.Sc. (required) or M.Sc. in a Natural Resources related field (biology, ecology, forestry, or geography).

• Experience in the natural resources sector in British Columbia, preferably in a consulting environment.

• Strong technical writing and familiarity with BC regulations and requirements, including but not limited to the BC Environmental Assessment Act, BC Oil and Gas Activities Act, and other provincial permitting processes under the Water Sustainability Act preferred; knowledge of municipal permitting requirements in BC is an asset.

• Experience engaging with regulatory agencies, stakeholders and Indigenous communities.

• Experience seeing projects from planning through construction.

• Hold a Professional Designation in BC

• Experience working with a diverse range of industrial sectors such as oil and gas, mining, and energy

• Time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines

• Experience in client liaison and business development

• Positive attitude, self-motivated with strong initiative

• An interest or experience in Project Management is an asset
