We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Lead role for our Canada Water Business, Building Mechanical team. In this role you’ll have the opportunity to to utilize your technical leadership and knowledge in building mechanical engineering design of systems for water projects. The Group Lead candidates can be based in any office in Canada.

The Group Leader (GL) role will report to the Engineering Services Department Manager and will initially have up to 20 building mechanical engineering staff across Canada.

The Group Leader is a strategic management role focusing on staff leadership and working with their teams to support and advance career performance and development. This includes identifying career opportunities and connection with our business deliverables, which includes identifying specific needs and contacts for mentorship, coaching, networking, etc. as well as day to day management of proposal and project workload for the team.

  • Drive a Canada wide approach that elevates a culture of disciplined design delivery across the portfolio of projects which continuously enhances Jacobs performance through the consistent delivery of high-quality, value-added solutions and services to our clients.

  • Actively partner with operations, sales, and Market Solutions to develop strong working relationships that support the growth of the Canadian water business.

  • Grow your team in concert with company goals and strategies including being fully inclusive of global resources.

  • Act as hiring manager for required staff, working in concert with others around established hiring plans; including helping the business achieve TogetherBeyond goals and integrate new hires.

  • Work with Canadian Water Engineering Services Department Manager - Canada Water Market Leader and the rest of the management team to achieve staff retention goals.

  • Support MoPs and project delivery leads in various initiatives to improve technical, quality, financial and schedule performance across Jacobs portfolio of projects.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Holds (or eligible for) Professional Engineers membership from any Province in Canada preferrable.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in design, program delivery and/or project management

  • Experience in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection system design for commercial, water/wastewater treatment, transportation, industrial, and other similar building types is preferred

  • Strong inspirational leadership skills

  • Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring

  • Demonstrated aptitude, ability, and capacity to build a team

  • Strong social, communication, planning and organizational skills

  • Ability to develop other front-line leaders as part of succession planning

  • Solid knowledge and application of the mechanical and/or plumbing requirements per building codes, energy codes, and other related standards such as NFPA standards and ASHRAE standards
